Lasiks and Books

I have been back from my trip for a couple of days now. While I was gone I tried to have laser eye surgery done, but my eye is of a certain shape that the suction cup used in the surgery cannot hold onto my eye. So I can't have lasiks... Well, the doctor said that I can have PRK laser surgery done, but I will have to have it done later. So it is still possible I can have my eyes corrected in the future. But I am content with whatever way God leads. :) I trust it is all for the best. On a different note, I also got some new books while I was gone: The Shaping of Things to Come, Preaching on Your Feet, and Starting a House Church. I thought they would be good to read. ^_^

"Lasik" is the property of Gholam A. Peyman. "PRK" is the property of Stephen L. Trokel. "The Shaping of Things to Come" is the property of Alan Hirsch and Michael Frost. "Preaching on Your Feet" is the property of Fred R. Lybrand. "Starting a House Church" is the property of Floyd McClung and Larry Kreider. All else is the original content of Josie Stewart.

Follower of Jesus on the Mozilla Staff

Gervase Markham, one of the staff members of Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/about/staff), is a believer and proudly professes so on his blog: http://www.gerv.net/hacking/why-hacking-for-christ.html. Here's a link to his blog "Hacking for Christ": http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/. I just thought it was really neat when I found out that one of the Mozilla staff was a Christian (another reason to use Fire fox ;). I contacted him and let him know what I thought. I also asked if there were any other believers on the Mozilla team. He said that there were not many and that it was a very needy mission field. I guess more people like me (aspiring programmers) need take up our task and share the hope we have with those in the fields we are entering (programming). Anyway, I just thought I'd share that. :)

(Edited to note that I now disagree with the late Gervase Markham's theology, and I also disagree with the colonialist theology I employed in this post.)

Just For Fun

To entertain myself I took some quizzes at nerdtests.com. Here are my results:

I am nerdier than 95% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to find out!

The NerdTests' Space Quiz says I'm an Uber Space Nerd. What kind of space nerd are you? Click here!

My computer geek score is greater than 70% of all people in my age group! How do you compare? Click here to find out!

(Edited to remove a couple of tests with ableist language. Also, I would like to note here that these nerd tests that I took for fun back in the day were part of a pattern of behavior originating from a subset of nerd culture that engaged in misogyny. I had adopted some of the misogynistic patterns, and I firmly denounce these now.)

Gone from 3-12

Hey, I'm back from Desert Challenge! It was awesome, but I'll tell more about that later. I will be in Turkey from January 3-12, so I won't be posting during that time.

Desert Challenge

Desert Challenge is in two days! Basically it is a youth group event, but that description hardly does it any justice. It is the most awesome youth group event! It is a great time to spend with God and friends. :)

Writing and Singing

I finished writing the second chapter of Trivesica today, and I worked on the full version of Key to Life. The stories are evolving a lot. I can picture future plot details in my mind. Trivesica is still developing, but the Key to Life series is really well developed now. I need to get my thoughts out. I volunteered to lead singing for my church's youth Christmas party, so ya'll can pray that I pick good songs and that God preserves my voice between now and then. Also pray for my school. I'm trying to get it polished off before Christmas, but as the end of semester approaches things are getting really hectic. So that's what's going on with me. :)
